Question: Can any tell me why high rpms continue during driving??
Hello,
My 96 corolla idles around 1500 to 2000 rpms at low engine temperatures and high rpms continues even during driving. But never had over heating problems since i bought it, I constantly moniter tempetature guage while driving. But hesitate to drive on freeways and never drove long distances. Temparatures seems to rise half way and once it gets there the idling falls to less than 1000 rpms which i feel normal but still driving rpms stays high enough, that i feel like pressing the gas even though I am not actually pressing it that hard. Please suggest me the most probable reasons and a cost efficient way to deal with this. the car has 150000 miles on it and it is mannual 5spd. Thank you very much for your time.
