Question: installing a gps

I have a Garmin nuvi GPS which I would like to install in the storage area in the center consol of my Sonata, rather than using a windshield or grill mount. Any ideas of how to store it there (its too deep to just put the unit in the storage area, as if falls back). I could stuff newspaper or something to keep it from falling back, but there must be a more elegant solution. Also, is there some way to run the power cable from one of the cigarette lighter recepticals to the gps. Its kind of messy having the cable attach to the console or the one in the arm rest. If there was some way, it would look built in, with the bonus that you could close the cover to keep it hidden.

I've been looking all over the internet for something like that with no results. If you come across anything, let me know. It seems like someone ought to be able to make some sort of box that would just slide into the dash boot.

I tried to do that with my older Garmin GPS. It would fit fine however it lost satellite linkage the moment I moved it down to center console. it didn't work for me.

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
