Question: why is my gas just disapearing

I just filled my car up with gas and it said i had 390 miles to go till empty. I only drove 7 miles and it now says that i am down to 360 miles to go till empty. What is going on where is all my gas going?

Your gas miles are estimated by your MPG so if you fill up after driving on the highway getting 30 MPG then your going to have higher miles available but when you accelerate you MPG goes down quickly along with your est miles.
